Top-seeded Jannik Sinner put an end to Richard Gasquet’s professional career with a 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 decision on Thursday in the second round of the French Open in Paris.

The 23-year-old Italian dispatched the 38-year-old Frenchman in one hour, 58 minutes at Roland Garros. Sinner also bounced Gasquet from the French Open last year.

“It’s obviously a very special place for me to play and against Richard,” Sinner said. “We played last year too. It’s very tough but I’m happy to be in the third round.”

Caps have to clear up mistakenly sent email

The Washington Capitals had to clear up confusion about Alex Ovechkin’s potential final season after it sent out an email to season ticket holders.

Season ticket holders received an email Thursday morning that said the start of the 2025-26 season would begin Ovechkin’s final NHL season. The email was quickly posted on social media as NHL fans were under the impression the NHL’s all-time goal scorer would officially embark on a farewell tour next season.
