The Washington Capitals had to clear up confusion about Alex Ovechkin’s potential final season after it sent out an email to season ticket holders.

Season ticket holders received an email Thursday morning that said the start of the 2025-26 season would begin Ovechkin’s final NHL season. The email was quickly posted on social media as NHL fans were under the impression the NHL’s all-time goal scorer would officially embark on a farewell tour next season.

Ben Griffin is on a roll. Five days after winning his first individual title on the PGA Tour, which was his second win following a team victory a month ago, Griffin posted a 7-under 65 to kick start his 2025 Memorial Tournament.

Griffin had three birdies and an eagle in his first eight holes and then bounced back from consecutie bogeys on Nos. 11 and 12 to record four more birdies over his final five holes, including three straight on the 16th, 17th and 18th.

Skenes (4-5) gave up four hits, struck out seven, walked none and hit a batter while dropping his ERA to 2.15. It was his 10th quality start in 12 appearances this season.
